Our Story
Miss Black North America is a home for Black women in pageantry, where we celebrate, motivate, and uplift. Here, representation isn't just a "nice-to-have," it’s essential. It validates experiences, fuels ambition, and creates a world where every child can see themselves as the hero in their own story.
We celebrate the achievements of Black women and the positive influence they have had in their communities. Where the world so often keeps us down, Miss Black North America pushes us up, out, and forward. It’s a space that inspires Black women to keep pushing , no matter what.
MBNA exists as a lighthouse in a sea of invisibility that shines bright on those who truly do make the world go round.
What makes us different?
Miss Black North America is more than a pageant; it’s a launchpad for legacy. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to cultivating the next generation of Black women entrepreneurs and leaders.
MBNA is designed for women who are building something greater than a crown. We center and celebrate delegates who are current entrepreneurs, nonprofit founders, or ambitious visionaries with a clear plan to launch their own venture. Whether they’re already in motion or preparing for takeoff, we provide the resources, recognition, and community to support their journey.
We will host our pageant in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the historic home of Black Wall Street. This isn’t just a location; it’s a statement. By anchoring our event in a place rich with legacy, resilience, and economic excellence, we honor the past while paving the way for the future of Black entrepreneurship.
Through curated networking opportunities, educational panels, and a focus on real-world impact, Miss Black North America fosters a powerful ecosystem of sisterhood, strategy, and self-determination.
We don’t just crown queens, we invest in visionaries.

Our Founder’s Story: Meet Taylor Thompson
“My purpose is rooted in helping Black women remember who they are—and rise.”
— Taylor Thompson, Founder of Miss Black North America
Taylor Thompson is a storyteller, strategist, and visionary leader dedicated to helping Black women design lives they love. As the Founder and CEO of the Miss Black North America Pageant, she’s building more than a competition; she’s creating a movement rooted in liberation, legacy, and limitless potential.
Taylor holds a Bachelor’s in Communications and a Master’s in Behavioral Science and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Development. She blends academic insight with lived experience to inspire purpose-driven leadership, healing, and self-discovery.
In 2021, Taylor began a personal transformation through therapy, mindfulness, and intentional rest. That chapter sparked a powerful shift, from shrinking to shining, and ignited her mission to help others do the same.
She is also the CEO of Aliynment, a leadership development firm that equips individuals and organizations to lead with emotional intelligence, psychological safety, and impact. Through coaching, curriculum, and corporate partnerships, Taylor is changing what leadership looks and feels like for good.
As a former titleholder, Taylor experienced firsthand how empowering pageantry can be, but also saw the gaps. Now, she’s reimagining what it means to wear a crown: not just to look the part, but to live it with heart, purpose, and action.
Taylor’s mission is clear: to uplift Black women as leaders, legacy builders, and lightbearers. The Miss Black North America system honors ambition, celebrates community, and reminds every little Black girl that her dreams are valid and her future is bright.
This is more than a pageant, it’s a call to rise, reach back, and rewrite the rules.
